A Tale of 2

She was there reading a book with a cup of freshly brewed coffee on the table. The atmosphere of the cafe was quietly calm with soft music being played. That was the type of place she fancied most. A place with solitaire but not loneliness. Bringing herself back to reality from her book, she took a sip and resume reading.

There he was, a part time waiter at the cafe. A guy who enjoy such atmosphere as well. He noticed that that was the first time she was here. One thing about her, he noticed, when she started reading, hardly anything can be done to divert her attention. Seemed like a typical book lover. Somehow, her interest in reading caught his attention that he could not help but to look at her every once in awhile.

She continue reading until her mum came in. She put the book down and looked while her mum sat down next to her. He took a short glimpse and resumed his work. She talked to her mum for awhile before a lady interrupted them. It was her mother’s friend who so happen to be the owner of the cafe. She greeted that lady and was asked about herself. Coincidently, that the college that she went to was the same as the lady’s son. Excited by this fact, the lady called out her son to join them at the table.

He quickly stopped working and walked towards the table. She was surprised to know that it was him. He was quite happy as he finally able to get the chance to know her better. How fate loves to play tricks. Smiled, he introduced himself to her. She did the same. Both their mothers excuse themselves leaving only the two of them at the table. They chatted on for quite some time.

He found her interesting. A girl who matched with the first impression she gave him. Mysterious on the surface but fun after the ice breaking. She was glad to finally have the chance of knowing him. He somehow managed to get her attention when she saw him for the first time. His smile was the charm to be precise and he was the first guy who actually knelt down before her. Extra credit for that, she thought, but then again, it was because she was sitting and he was too tall to be on a standing position to talk to her. However, it was only for awhile as that time there were no chairs vacant for that table.

She knew her mum was trying to eave drop from the next table. She chose to ignore that fact and continue talking to him. He was glad that they were able to see each other again when the semester starts. It was after awhile that her mother interrupted them saying that they have to get going. He checked the time only to realise that half an hour had passed. She was about to leave when he asked for her number. She gave it to him and he bid her goodbye.

Once her mum and her were out from the cafe, he texted her, “see you soon ;)”. Feeling her phone vibrate, she checked her phone and smiled. This might just be the start of something new.
